Dr. Tony Turin OD, FAAO

My name is Tony Turin and I was born and raised in Welches, Oregon, and graduated from Sandy High School in 2002. After high school, I completed a Bachelors’s degree and a Doctorate degree in Optometry from Pacific University. Shortly after graduating in 2010, I was directly commissioned as a Captain in the US Army. Most of my military commitment was spent working at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During this time, I worked as the Chief of Optometry at Womack Army Medical Clinic, I covered on-call in the emergency department, and I evaluated more patients than any Optometrist in the area. In 2013, I became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, something only ten percent of optometrists achieve. I have also gone on to complete my Masters in Business Administration. I have been married to my beautiful wife since 2004, and have two amazing kids. I am still so excited to be back in my hometown and serving the people of the Mt. Hood area! Please make us your hometown choice for all your vision and eye care needs.

Kim

Kim Turin is the lovely wife of Dr. Turin. She graduated from Barlow High school as valedictorian and went on to be an All American Collegiate athlete at Corban University. Kim is the reason Dr. Turin started to pursue Optometry years ago. She has worked in the industry for over fifteen years and has a vast amount of knowledge in finance and optometry. Kim is the CFO of both the Gresham and Sandy practices and manages both the businesses primarily from home. Kim and Tony are also proud parents of two awesome kids! Kim enjoys church, the great outdoors, being a wife and mom, hanging with friends and family, and coaching volleyball.

Catherine

After graduating salutatorian from Templeton High School in 1987, Catherine started her career as an Optician in 1989 at a private optometric practice in California where she grew up. She enjoyed learning all aspects of the office, from patient welcoming to optometric technician, to running the In-house lab where they would do their own edging of lenses.

In 1992, she and her husband moved to Montana where she spent some time working in a full-scale, nationwide optical laboratory. She feels her experience in both the office and laboratory gives her a well-rounded array of knowledge that helps her as an optician. While in Montana, Catherine became certified with the American Board of Opticianry.

Moving to Oregon in 1999, Catherine has since worked as an optician at two other offices in the Portland area, as well as another nationwide full-service lab as their final inspector.

Joining the Mt Hood Eye Care team in 2017, and enjoys being in a smaller, family-oriented office best. She truly enjoys giving our patients quality eyewear education throughout their ordering experience, so that each patient can make a well-informed decision on their eyewear investment to receive the best vision possible. We are happy now to have all of Catherine’s experience as she manages the Sandy location and is a managing consultant to our other offices. Catherine really enjoys the challenge of adjusting misshaped glasses, so don’t think it’s hopeless until you bring her the challenge of repairing it!

Catherine loves to spend time with her husband of over 30 years. She has 3 grown children and has finally become a grandma! In her free time, Catherine enjoys cycling, reading, and playing the piano for Logan Community Church where her husband is Pastor.

Abigail

Abigail was born in Oregon but grew up in Washington state where she is a 2019 Summa Cum Laude Graduate from WSUV in Human Development & Early Childhood Education.

She started in the workforce in a dental office and discovered that wasn’t for her. So she was placed by an employment agency in a local optometric office, where she found that she liked this medical field. Abigail became a great addition to our Mt Hood team in October 2022, where she brings a kind, warm and welcoming spirit when she greets our patients or calls to collect payments. When in office you may hear us calling her Abi!  She is happy to work among a group of individuals who have great values and strong ethics. Encouraging and supporting one another while truly enjoying working together to make a strong team.

Outside of work, Abigail loves adventuring with her wonderful husband, Mitchel, and her awesome poodle mix, Stella. She enjoys serving through various charitable foundations too. If you happen to run into her at Good Shephard Church, please say HI!

Jaclyn

Jaclyn was born and raised in Oregon, where she grew up on her family’s property in the countryside of Oregon City and spent much of her time outdoors with her dog. Jaclyn’s family later moved to Estacada where she spent some evenings babysitting and caring for neighbors’ animals. She started working with us at Mt Hood Eye Care in February 2021 and began full-time work as soon as she graduated from high school that June.

Jaclyn temporarily left our office in October 2022 as she worked at a coffee shop closer to home, but quickly rejoined us in March 2023. Jaclyn feels very blessed to be a part of our Mt Hood Eye Care team in Sandy that truly feels like family. She so enjoys the growing friendships that she has formed with our established patients over her years here, and with new patients who first enter our office. Jaclyn appreciates the various responsibilities that her role gives her, allowing her to practice and learn skills in multiple areas of the office. It is also quite special that she gets to work each day alongside her Mama.

In her free time, Jaclyn loves spending time in Church, watching old shows with her parents, and being outside and around her home with her one-eyed rescue dog by her side.

Janelle (Nell)

Janelle was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. After she graduated high school in Carson City in 2016, she went on to do three years of college striving to go into the nursing field. She had the pleasure of traveling for work within her job while working for “In -n- Out”, a growing company, which introduced her to Oregon. She had the pleasure of opening the store down in Keiser, OR. Janelle enjoys the fast-paced environments but also engaging and creating connections with customers.

Janelle is excited to finally be working in the medical field.  She’s interested in learning and developing her skills here at Mt Hood Eye Care to hopefully find her niche and career within the community.

She recently moved up here with her boyfriend and they have grown to love the area and people. They enjoy hiking and exploring nature every weekend, as well as love taking their 97’ Toyota Tacoma out off-roading. Janelle also enjoys painting, traveling, and creating jewelry. She is excited and ready to be working in a field that strives in helping patients improve overall health and working with a team that is so encouraging in her learning and development.

Breeana (Bree)

Breeana, also known as Bree, joined our team in May of 2023, but she’s been working in the medical field for most of her work career. She really loves helping patients thrive and learning how to help others in different aspects of her work.

Bree has been wearing glasses since 2nd grade, so she enjoys the look on kids’ faces when they put their new glasses on and see a whole new world! In 2016 & 2017 she got the opportunity to fit glasses to kids in Uganda. Little did she know she’d switch medical careers and get to do it again here! She’s well known around these parts, so not a day goes by when she doesn’t know at least one of our patients who walk in.

But here are some fun facts you may not know about her. She loves camping in a tent! It’s the real way according to her.  She loves spending time with friends and family and going on random adventures with her boyfriend. Being outside amongst the trees along the river in her hammock is her favorite place to be. She also enjoys watching old classic movies like Singing in the Rain or Anne of Green Gables. While watching those movies, Bree indulges in charcuterie boards which she loves to make because she likes cheese… except Brie cheese. She thinks that’s gross!

Bree has been to 10 different countries and has seen some incredible things and amazing people! Next on her places to go are Greece and Scotland. But she really wants to go back to Uganda. She loves to explore the beautiful countryside and world that God created!

She is very involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, as it hits close to home with her niece. She participates in the fundraising walk every year and will be adding the 800-stair firemen climb this year to support people with Cystic Fibrosis. She loves volunteering and helping others. Bree is looking forward to what God has for her in this new chapter of her life and is hopeful to SEE where this new career takes her!

Kelly is the sister-in-law to Dr. Turin and sister to Kim. She graduated from Barlow High School as a salutatorian and went on to graduate from Eastern Oregon University with her Business degree.

Kelly has worked in the industry for over fifteen years and has a vast amount of knowledge in managing an optometry office. Kelly was at Mt Hood Eye Care when it opened, and shortly after that, she decided to be a stay-at-home mom for 5 yrs. She is currently our fabulous billing specialist for all of our offices: Mt Hood Eye Care Sandy, Mt Hood Eye Care Gresham, and our newly acquired Cascade Vision, of which she manages all her billing tasks from home.

Kelly has two beautiful daughters and enjoys church, the great outdoors, being a wife and mom, and spending time with friends and family.

Gretchen

Gretchen has worked in Ophthalmology/Optometry for 24 years. After she completed her Associates of Science Degree at Portland Community College, she went on the receive her certification as an Ophthalmic Technician. She has continued in the industry providing exceptional attention to patient care as a receptionist and optician. What distinguishes her from others in her field is that she enjoys building relationships with patients so they will feel part of “our family” at Mt. Hood Eye Care.

With her amazing husband and five kids, Gretchen enjoys outdoor fun, gathering with friends and family, and vacationing anywhere warm!
